Problem:
The ProPatch pothole repair truck hopper
held a cold process asphalt mix that adhered to the sides of the hopper
and caused blockage of flow from the hopper. An additional employee was
needed to agitate the mixture from the top of the truck which added
labor costs and posed a safety concern. The manufacturer of the ProPatch
unit recommended applying liquid silicone to the hopper on a weekly
basis which was costly and took time to apply. |

Result: Big Lake city management is very pleased with the results of the application. The cold mix does not adhere to the hopper areas coated with CeRam-Kote 54® and the lubricity and sliding abrasion properties eliminate the need for the use of liquid silicone. No additional employee is needed to manually agitate the cold mix, solving the previous safety issue and cutting labor costs of street patching by one-third. |
