Problem: The customer had an epoxy applied to their checkerplate floor that showed signs of failure after 18 months of service. It was determined the coating was disbonding due to the flexibility of the substrate. The customer was looking for another coating that would last, offered better cosmetics, cleanability and an anti-skid surface.

Solution: The customer’s expectations were met with CeRam-Kote 99M. This application makes cleanability simple as the staff mop the floor to keep water from entering the underground work stations. An anti-skid media was applied to the un-cured coating prior to applying an additional topcoat. Mopheads last longer because the topcoat does not directly expose the abrasive anti-skid material. The customer plans to eventually apply CeRam-Kote 99M in other service locations. |
