Problem:

The owner was restoring the Grumman Albatross flying boat and needed a coating that could withstand leading edge abuse. Leading edges are subjected to severe abrasion and erosion, especially from prop wash on the flying boats.

Solution:

CeRam-Kote 54® was selected for use on the leading edge of the horizontal stabilizer on the flying boat's tail. The owner received permission from the Coast Guard to use their insignia/colors. His son flew the plane for the Coast Guard in 1990 and 1991 to celebrate Coast Guard anniversaries. The plane has logged well over 300 flight hours since 1989 with CeRam-Kote 54® still intact after eight years of use. The owner is very pleased with the tremendous hammering CeRam-Kote 54® has endured.
