WHY CERAM-KOTE 54®? |

|
CeRam-Kote is engineered to control corrosion and provide superior
protection to substrates subjected to harsh marine environments.
CeRam-Kote protects by binding sub-micron ceramic particles to a unique
resin system. The resultant tough barrier coating actually encapsulates
the structure, vessel or equipment it is protecting. The inert feature
of the loaded ceramics allows CeRam-Kote to protect well beyond the
inservice life of typical marine coatings. CeRam-Kote can be applied directly to the properly prepared substrate in a thin film, one-coat, two pass system. Topside, CeRam-Kote protects against the harsh and demanding marine climate on decks, doors, hatches, valves, manifolds, fire water systems, winches, lines and equipment. Heliports and walkways benefit from application of CeRam-Kote's anti-skid system. Piping can be protected both internally and externally. Internal areas of the vessel benefit from CeRam-Kote, protecting vertical and overhead bulkheads and electric motors. Although CeRam-Kote is not an antifouling coating, its extremely low water vapor permeability rate provides a superior anti-corrosive barrier coating below the waterline. When used in total immersion service, CeRam-Kote's toughness and very high adhesion (greater than 4,000 psi [27.98 MPa]) provides a surface that barnacles and marine growth can not penetrate. Short term marine growth and barnacles are easily removed with high pressure water washing or scraping without damaging CeRam-Kote or the surface it is protecting. Productivity - Essential The ever increasing demand for productivity in the Marine Industry makes CeRam-Kote the ideal coating choice. Optimum productivity has become the competitive edge for modern shipyards. The CeRam-Kote system replaces the typically used labor intensive three coat system. CeRam-Kote can be used as a shop primer on structural steel that, in addition to protecting the steel from corrosion, withstands the abuse of deck construction, requiring only spot touch-up during construction. Then after preparing the surface by high pressure hydroblasting, CeRam-Kote bonds to itself even with a period of six months or more between the primer coat and topcoat. CeRam-Kote is a compelling choice in view of time, labor and material savings. In the repair business, timing is also critical. Quick turnaround is essential to boat owners and the customers they serve. Under the right weather conditions, CeRam-Kote can be applied in one day and the boat placed back into service within 24 hours, minimizing downtime and maximizing labor productivity. CeRam-Kote’s slogan is: “what is blasted (prepared) today can be coated today.” Quick turnaround with improved performance not only improves service, it improves a company’s profit margin. Low VOC’s CeRam-Kote is environmentally friendly, with low VOC levels of 1.63 lb/gal (196 g/l). Unlike other coating systems, CeRam-Kote requires minimal or no thinners, so VOC levels remain low. In a busy shipbuilding or repair facility, CeRam-Kote’s low VOC level coupled with its time saving application, means more coating jobs can be produced, while still functioning within the allocated VOC levels. Abrasion Resistance and High Surface Lubricity In special situations, CeRam-Kote has been used below the waterline for abrasion resistance and lubricity purposes. Light marine vessels have shown an increase in service speed and reduced fuel consumption. CeRam-Kote has provided successful protection on Coast Guard rescue vessels against high seas and sand abrasion on river inlets. |

Coating water jet intakes is another excellent application for
CeRam-Kote. In this application, CeRam-Kote protects against severe
abrasion and erosion from the velocity of the particle-laden water
entering and exiting the jet pumps. CeRam-Kote provides excellent protection for cargo ship ramps and cable chutes. CeRam-Kote’s mechanical properties protect against wear and abrasion. |
